Venus Opportunities Exceed Serena Record

Venus Williams will face Garbine Muguruza in the Wimbledon women's singles final on Saturday (07/15/2017). This will be a chance Venus to surpass the record of his sister, Serena Williams.

Venus will be 37 years old and 28 days while competing in the final. If able to defeat Muguruza in the final, she will become the oldest female tennis player to win the Grand Slam singles title in the Open Era, which began in 1968.

The record is currently held by Serena. Serena is 35 and 125 days old when she won the Australian Open in January.

"I do not think about my age, it's not a factor," said Venus as quoted by the BBC.

Venus has so far collected seven Grand Slam titles, five of them at Wimbledon. But, the last time he became Wimbledon champion was in 2008 ago.

"I love the big stage, there is great pressure and it is about facing the pressure," Venus said.

"There are only a handful of players each year who can face the pressure to play the best game against the best players, I love the game and I do not want this part of my life that ends, it's not over until it's over," he said.
